Peace TreatyAfter peace talks which dragged, late into the night, an agreement has been reached. My fellow members of Pern Fandom, today we have seen the triumph not of one weyr over another but of the principles and decency that we all share. Often today, the 1st of April has been called a day of fools, and yes, fools we might have been if we allowed this misunderstanding to continue. An idea, a brilliant wonderful idea of unity was flawed in its execution, but not in it’s principle, for we all share a common ground - a reverence and appreciation of the Pern worlds in all the infinite varieties our minds can conjure. That variety should be preserved and there should be no conflict over this, lest that which binds us all together tears us all apart. To this end, in their wisdom, the assembled Weyrs of all the Perns have conducted Peace Talks and agreed the following action. All POW kitties shall be repatriated, unharmed with their dignity intact. If they have been harmed in anyway, the Weyr that cause the issue shall make reparations. All weyrs, will stand down any of their shows of force – this day will see no bloodshed or conflict. Arolos, will, by means of apology for instigating this situation, as agreed will make reparation to the other weyrs in the form of advertising links. The Infinite Crisis Plot is suspended effective immediately and will be discussed no further. Today, none shall be asked to shed blood for their weyr, or set friend against friend, or face a mortal enemy. Today we are not fools. Today we are ALL heroes for drawing back from the brink of war and having the courage to embrace peace rther than suspicion and conflict. Today, we honour our differences as much as our commonalities and value them both equally. Today, we are Pern Fandom, all of us, and will be forever.
