OzifiniName Pronounced: AHZ-ih-FEE-NEE Appearance: Ozifini looks like one would imagine a granny to- shorter and a little hunched, poofy white-gray hair that’s always kept back in a bun with not a single wisp out of place. Her large brown eyes seem almost *too* large in her small face, especially since they’re always made up with purple eyeshadow, thin khol liner, and black eyelash paint. It’s not entirely overbearing, but it’s noticeable. Compared to her eyes, her eyebrows almost don’t exist save as little tufts of blonde hair on the inner parts of her brows. She’d almost be pretty… ish… if it wasn’t for the giant mole smack between her eyes and her grossly over-sized nose. By far Ozifini’s most prominent feature, this nose sticks out several inches with an obvious downward hook that, when viewed from straight on, pierces right between her lips. Her favorite attire is a prussian blue long-sleeved dress with navy blue ruffles on her sleeves and a navy collar. For jewelry, she wears rings on every finger save her thumbs (familial heirlooms most with one or two cheap things bought from various Gathers. Large gold-colored balls adorn each earlobe and a clear red gem hangs from her neck by a cord. She’d swear that it was a priceless Istan ruby, but really it’s more like a common almandine garnet cut to look like one. Personality: To humans and animals, Ozifini is a sweet grandmotherly type. “Oh, dearie, what’s the problem? Here, have a sweetie for being so brave.” Having no children or grandchildren herself, the woman is more than glad to treat the children of others with the utmost sugary care. Yes, human patients love being seen by this sweet granny. It’s where draconics are concerned that she has trouble. Dragondeaf as a post, she’s had issues with dragons since the day she was passed up for Standing at Telgar Weyr because of it. Unable to grasp the sentience of the great beasts, she views dragons themselves as oversized and colorful runners who have wings and occasionally spit fire. Yes, they’re needed as far as Threadfighting goes, but other than that, they were useless, messy, and a hassle. And WHY did the Weyrs need so many youngsters to Stand for them? Surely the things could just pick who they wanted since the whole Weyr showed up for Impression, right? Firelizards were no better- big gnats that ate more and made a huge mess wherever they went. And whers? Monstrous brutes that would sooner kill you than look at you. Sure she can treat draconics as well as any human healer, bit of numbweed here and there, but any comments from the rider about their dragon saying it still hurt are poo-poo’d off as over-exaggeration of an over-personified animal. In fact, she’ll do anything she can to prevent candidates from Standing if they show particular aptitude in their craft. They’d be far more useful there than tending those needy things. History: Born on 4.5 in Tillek Hold, Ozifini showed aptitude for healing from a young age. As a child, she would readily help people hurt by fishing lures and other things (even if it just meant fetching bandages at first) and in a short time Ozifini found herself aiding the Hold healer. The man saw a talent in the girl and wrote to the Healer Hall with news of potential talent and a journeyman was dispatched to see. After his arrival, young Ozifini was tested and indeed found acceptable to the Hall, journeying back with the journeyman to begin her life as a healer. Fort was a shock to the young and rather impressionable girl but her dedication to healing helped to prevent her own views being distorted by Fortian beliefs. Information about Ozifini's pets Pet Name: Mittens Pet Type: Feline Appearance: Take a beautiful tabby type feline, age it about ten, twelve Turns, and make its fur dirty looking and scraggly, and you’ll have Mittens. Mittens was a glorious cat in her prime, bearing plenty of litters that Ozifini kept all to herself until they were forced away or eaten. Along with her coat, Mittens’ face has become squashed from various hard encounters with walls or whatever else she’d run into. Personality: Once upon a time, Mittens was a sweetie. As she grew, she was spoiled rotten and learned to view anyone other than her darling pet Ozifini as below her. Her human had to be protected at all costs and that meant staying with her at all times. She keeps near her human’s feet and hides in her healer robes when she’s in the infirmary. Should anyone but her human try to touch her, she’ll bite and scratch without warning, hissing loudly.
