LiaraiName Pronounced: lee-AHR-ay Appearance: Slightly crooked teeth, olive skin, and reddish blonde hair are the immediate distinguishing features on this young girl. Liarai is short, only 4’8”, but she doesn’t let that stop her. She’s active and fit with a mostly trim build, but she’s not alarmingly skinny. Liarai has grey eyes that remind one from the North of frozen stone in the dead of winter, though when she smiles they warm up like thick steam in a bath. Liarai’s body hasn’t matured yet, puberty not quite hitting her, so time will yet tell what she will end up looking like. Her hands are covered with small burns here and there from blowing glass. Personality: Careful, studious, and patient, Liarai is a practical girl who rarely does anything without meaning to. Growing up at Fort meant that she couldn’t act out or be silly even when they moved to the Hold. She had to be good and proper so that she didn’t draw anyone’s eye, even if she hated every minute. Liarai wanted to have fun, to run and shout and jump like a child should. Her suppression means that even now at thirteen, Liarai would gladly do such childish things just to do it and feel what it is like. She enjoys cooking and tries to be creative about it, something which likely stems from her skill as a novice glasscrafter. Gossip never held much interest for the girl, but stories absolutely draw her notice. The more fantastic they are, the better. History: Birthday 5.8 Born in Fort Weyr before the resistance began their coup d'état, Liarai was quickly informed of her place in the Weyr. She was the daughter of a bronzerider, F’tor, and a Lower Caverns worker, Celienne, and thus essentially a nobody. When Liarai was five, the Resistance took over the Weyr and slaughtered so many, including the bronzerider who’d fathered the young girl. The family didn’t mourn his loss particularly, but the mass slaughter of dragonriders alerted them to the hell that would come. Celienne and her husband, Granson, arranged to escape with the children to Fort Hold, where they would be safer. Liarai is a candidate.
