Appearance: Bettani is a stunning brunette with dusky skin, tawny brown eyes, a dainty nose, and slender figure. She is 5 ft 7 inches tall. She looks her best in dark red. Her movements are always graceful, whether walking or dancing.

Personality: Despite the evidence of her mirror and the assurances of her sweetheart Jesper, Bettani grew up thinking she would be prettier if she were a blonde. She could get quite jealous if she saw Jesper with a blonde girl. Her usual modus operandi was to be extra sweet and charming and try to pass the girl off to her brother Brand. Sometimes she was surprised to find she actually liked the girl.

Having seen the beautiful clothes her mother (a journeyman tailor) makes for her customers, Bettani has a taste for fine attire that she can rarely indulge. She learned tailorcraft from her mother, and eventually had the chance to apprentice properly at the Tailorcraft Hall near Forest Edge.

History: Bettani is the eldest daughter and second child of cotholder Brettan and his wife Berandi, a journeywoman tailor. She has two younger sisters and a baby brother, whom she used to look after while her mother was working and attending her customers. This delayed her taking up her apprenticeship at the Tailorcraft Hall, but she finally managed to get away almost a turn ago when Leaf came to look after the children.

The family has a cothold between the Harper Hall and the Seacrafters' Hall. They live on the food they grow, and go fishing with Brettan's brother to supplement their diet. They barely survived the famine a few turns ago, but are doing well now and making much-needed repairs and renovations to the cot. Bettani's mother trained her daughter in tailoring, to the point where she needed to spend time in the crafthall to be promoted to Journeywoman.

Bettani was hoping to marry Jesper, a journeyman seacrafter. However, he was sent to Tillek for several months for practical experience, so when Leaf, an unimpressed candidate from Arolos Weyr, came to the cot looking for work, and was taken on to look after the younger children, Bettani seized the opportunity to to go to the Tailor Crafthall near Forest Edge Hold to complete the training in Tailorcraft she had begun under her mother. She walked the tables 3 turns ago and worked at Forest Edge hold until Jesper returned from his travels. They have been married for about a turn and live at Kele Hold.

Pet Name: Jonto

Pet Type: Canine

Appearance: Black and tan mixed breed, with good tracking abilities. About 1 foot high at shoulder.

Personality: He was found by Jesper several turns ago, running loose near the Seacrafters' Hall. Not being allowed to keep a pet at the Hall, he asked Bettani's family to look after him, shooting the occasional wherry to feed him. Now both Bettani and Jesper have left, Jonto is very protective of Bettani's younger siblings. He may have been abused in the past --- some people make him cringe or run and hide for no apparent reason.

Second Pet Name: Tomba

Pet Type: Flit

Appearance: Tomba is a blue Callamere flit. At ten turns old, he's quite big but not pushy.

Personality: Tomba is a friendly and affectionate flit, and a reliable messenger. He's particularly useful to Bettani as a means of keeping in touch with her family, and can be counted on to appear at birthing-days and Turns End.
