Appearance: Grey hair which was once a red brown is often hidden under a broad brimmed hat. His skin is freckled and often ruddy from the sun's rays. He is a comfortable five foot seven and has a slender but powerful body.
His eyes are a bright blue and set in a face which has often been called friendly and occasionally in the past ruggedly handsome.
Brax limps on his left leg after being thrown and trampled by a runner. His knuckles have started to look swollen now and then and ache considerably.

Personality: Brax is a quiet man, and easy to get on with, just so long as you treat his runners with respect. Sure they may not be as smart as dragons, but they are still smart enough. He is slow to anger, but the ill treatment of mounts and children are the two things which will automatically raise his ire.
His dalliances are private, and often short lived- he doesn't particularly want to settle with anyone, much more content to be spending time with his Runners. Brax has been called a horse whisperer by some, something which he brushes off- he doesn't see what he does as anything special, it's all just common sense.
He has a sense of humour which is based on sarcasm, something which makes him seem gruffer then he actually is. He is loyal however, and once you are under wing, well, he'll look after you for life. Unless of course you do something unforgivable- like harming one of his Runners

History: Born north, Brax spent his early years around Runners (the animals, not the people). He and his family bred both warm and cool blooded lines, suitable for saddle and wagon work.
Brax learned from his da's knee, learning his lessons well. He has a gift with Runners, or at least it looks that way to those who see him work.
It isn't a gift so much as knowing how a Runner acts and react around certain things and how to use it to his advantage.
As a young man, he travelled about in his craft, learning a variety of different ways.
He has had a handful of lovers over the turns, both male and female. His only love is his runners however- he has the same pride in each and every one as others would have in their children.
When Brax was 30 he was at his families holding near Benden riding a newly broken beast. He hadn't realised that there was a dragon out Searching when he came around up the path to the hold. The Runner threw him and he landed badly, breaking his lower leg where the bones join to create the knee joint. This put him out of action (or rather out of riding) for a good turn- not just to heal but to rebuild the muscles in his leg.
He was back in the saddle within eighteen months, and just as agile in the saddle as he was before, even if he still has a slight limp on the ground.
As the turns passed, Brax started having trouble with his leg. Healers advised that he go somewhere warmer for his health.
He was 50. He decided to move to Forest Edge hold and bought with him one of his families stallions, Finest Flame. Finest Flame has sired quite a few good runners, however he, and most of Brax's stock, were lost when Mt Prudence erupted.
Most that is.
On returning to FEH after the eruption, he was rather astounded to find one of the near yearlings had survived. The colt was named Benden's Finest Red (or just plain Red) and Brax treated him like he was a clutching Gold, sleeping down in the stables and ensuring that the colt had every chance of survival.
It was also after the eruption that a young lad by the name of Ratin was fostered out at FEH. Brax took the lad under wing and sees him as the child that he has never had.

Pet Name: Bendens Finest Red

Pet Type: Runner

Appearance: Currently 4 turns. This runner stands 16.5 hands at the shoulder. He is a deep red chestnut with only the faintest darkening at muzzle. He does have lighter scars across his flanks from when he was caught in the eruption as a colt. He got out, but not without harm.
He is long legged and agile with a light ground eating gait. He most resembles the Hanoverian breed of old Earth.

Personality: Red is a stallion, and boy does he push the limits. By no means is he a vicious horse, rather just willing to push the barriers on his training (usually by nipping the other stablehands- for Brax he is like an overgrown cat).
He is absolutely terrified of fire- shoeing him requires blindfolding
