V'lokName Pronounced: Vah-Loch Appearance: V'lok stands at a height of 5'11" and he has a muscular build. He has mahogany brown hair that seems to stick out in various directions. He keeps it shaved just below his ears. His eyes are a light hazel brown in color, though at a distance they might seem almost amber. His eyes seem to have a certain sadness to them, giving them an almost lost puppy dog look. Above each eye is a single slightly arched mahogany brown eyebrow, which gives his appearance a little character. His nose is of medium size and is slightly rounded at the end and his nostrils are a bit thin. His lips are thin and are rather pale in color, though not overly so. His arms are slightly musclar and there is a long threadscore scar on his right arms that runs from the shoulder down to the elbow. The scar is faded meaning that it's an old injury, but it also looks like the score was a rather minor one. His hands are rough and calloused from all the work he did before he impressed, as well as during the time he was a candidate. He has a well muscled but compact chest that seems perfectly formed, with a light threadscore scar that is very faded. He has a smooth washboard stomach which is typical of most men and thankfully it seems to be one of the few places on his body that seems to be free of scars. His legs are a little longer than medium length and are on the lanky side, which should allow him a fair amount of running speed should he ever need it. Overall he's a fairly hadsome rider, but not overly so. Personality: V'lok is a rider with a good sense of humor, a good contrast to Arokth's more serious personality. The recent loss of his weyrmate however has overshadowed that humor, and now it seems that he rarely laughs. Yet there is still a hint of his old self that comes through every now and again. A lot of people tend to withdraw and isolate themselves when they lose someone but V'lok is a people person. He's out and about meeting riders and other new people in an effort to distract himself. Besides, Arolos is his new home and he might as well get to know the people who live there. He's a gambling man, willing to take chances even if it is risky. He has a lot of confidence about him, a change that was brought on when he impressed Arokth. He's always been the type that has a few close friends and a lot of acquaintances. He's a good confidant, willing to listen to the problems of others and help out if he thinks there's something he can do. His friendly demeanor and charming attitude are just a part of who he is, he seems to have a natural talent when it comes to dealing with people. His patience is unwavering and very rarely does he lose he temper. If someone does manage to get him angry...well let's just say be glad looks don't kill because his glare seems like it could. History: Valok was born in Igen Hold, the third son of Journeyman Smithcrafter Tavralk and Journeyman Healer Aernyia. His brother Shindon was two turns older than him and his oldest brother Vralkov was six turns older. As the youngest child he was doted on by his parents, which lead to a lot of sibling rivalry with his two brothers. It didn't really help that in his parent's eyes he could do no wrong. So when he got into mischief it was his brothers that usually ended up taking the blame. They were given the lecture of how they were supposed to set a good example for their youngest brother. It wasn't until he was eight turns old and played a prank on the son of the Lord Holder that his parents finally figured out what he was actually like. They realized their error and tried to correct their mistake by keeping Valok busy with errands and chores around the cothold so that he couldn't cause trouble. In his childish mind he thought his parents were being cruel since he was used to getting his way, so he tried to run away. He tried to leave by following a trading caravan, but it didn't work out too well. His uncle was with the trading caravan and noticed that he was following behind. His uncle quickly turned back and picked up Valok by the back of his shirt before marching him home since the treading caravan hadn't gotten very far. He was punished by being sent to his room and he was not allowed to come out for two sevendays. He was given a few breadrolls and redfruit juice for supper and that was about it. Needless to say he didn't try running away again. Slowly he learned to respect others and not to cause trouble, though he still got into mischief on occasion. His parents noticed the change and his father rewarded him on his turnday with belt knife he had made especially for his son. It seemed plain at first except the hilt was a polished bronze engraved with the figure of a firelizard on it. From them on, he was never seen without it. Information about V'lok's dragon Dragon Name: Arokth Colour: Brown Age: 12 Wing (Weyrling Group): CloudDancers Appearance: Arokth is a truly massive brown that is a total of 35 feet in length and is far more robust than some bronzes tend to be. Rich shades of agate brown flow across the broad expanse of his large muzzle before ending at the base. His muzzle is of medium length but rather wide and it is blunted at the tip, giving his muzzle a rather blocky look. Near the very tip of his muzzle are two slitted nostrils, which allow him to pick up on a variety of scents. His agate brown eyeridges are large but smooth and gently curving, giving his large head a slightly more steamline appearance. Shadowed underneath his agate brown eyeridges are two bright whirling eyes that change colors depending on his mood. His eyes are large and the faceting is close together and his eyes are vaguely almond shaped. Just below the back corner of his left eye, a silvery-white threadscore scare trails down at a jagged angle to end half-way down his cheek. Near the back of his head are two stubby headknobs, the one on the right is a light mocha brown in color and the other on the left is a dark agate brown. His neck is thick and stocky, corded with powerful muscles. His muscular neck is a glossy agate brown in color with a few mocha brown stripes that run from the top of his neck down to the base. Near the front of his neck are a few light speckles of mocha brown that seem to fade into the agate brown background rather nicely. Running down the back of his neck are several large neckridges that are rather triangular in shape and are very pronounced. His large neckridges are the darkest tint of agate brown possible and on both sides of each neckridge is a series of thin mocha brown lines that loop around to form strange look symbols or splotches, each one being unique. His shoulders are robust and heavily muscled, though they have a good rounded look to them. His shoulders are a glossy agate brown, untouched by a single other shade of color. His front legs are stocky and powerful and are completely agate brown in color, marred only by a single silvery-white threadscore scar above his right foot. Upon both his front feet are a deadly set of razor sharp claws, each a glossy agate brown in color with a curved edge. His slightly rounded belly is a light mocha brown in coloration that conrasts greatly with the dark agate brown on his sides. The base of his wings is corder with thick muscle, which is needed to allow him to beat his large wings. His wings are truly impressive with a truly broad wingspan and an interesting pattern across the top of his wings. The tops of his wings have a solid agate brown background, with vibrant stripes of mocha brown that loop and curve into one another to form almost symbol-like patterns. The trailing edges of his wings are solid mocha brown in color, looking rather like they had been dipped in a bowl of mocha. The bottoms of his wings are a very dark brown, matching almost perfectly with the color of steeped klah. His hind legs are more heavily muscled than the front and are colored by dark hues of agate brown. However, his left hind leg has a seven inch long silvery-white scar across it, obviously caused by a horrible threadscore. His hind feet are a pale mocha brown in color, each sporting a large set of agate brown claws that are slightly curved. Last but not least is his large tail that is thick at the base but gradually thins out until it comes to a stop at half the length of his body. His tail is a dark agate brown in color with a light mocha brown tracing the edges of his tail spade. Personality: Arokth may have an intimidating appearance but he really is very kind. While on sweepduty if he notices a wagon has tipped over he'll happily set it upright again, or if someone's runner has escaped he'll help herd it back to the pen. He's a helpful dragon but he doesn't help others unless it seems they need it. He judges a situation very carefully first before taking any action. He is a deep thinker and will take the time to look at both sides of a situation, something even humans won't do too often. Most people tend to think of only how they feel about something and not how another would observe it. He's very calm and sturdy and can think clearly even in emergency situations. His nickname is Aro for short, but he will not let anyone but his rider and those closest to him use it. Arokth will on occasion associate with those other than his rider, though usually they are candidates or children. He does his best to assure candidates that they will impress if they have the patience to wait long enough and he likes to encourage children to work with whatever talents they may have just discovered. He is a solid voice of reasoning for both his rider and others who are willing to listen. His memory is good for a brown but it's the more important events that he tends to remember best. He does enjoy showing off his strength once in a while, moving a boulder to a more convenient place or moving a dead fallen tree off a trail in the jungle. He is a voracious eater and could easily eat twice his weight in herdbeasts if his rider would let him. He is careful not the scatter the herd too much and usually just swoops down and plucks up a herdbeast before taking it some distance away to eat it. Arokth will chase greens every once in a while and he's large enough that he will chase a gold on occasion. His endurance can easily see him through a flight and some greens will fancy him for his raw strength. Green flights he finds something of a challenge since he isn't very agile, so he has to make up for that with shows of strength and intelligence. Arokth just can't seem to resist a challenge, whether it be a friendly competition or a dare. Thankfully his rider makes sure he doesn't take up on too many dares, or he could get himself into some real trouble. His bond with his rider is a strong one and they each draw upon each other's strength in tough times. Weyr of Origin: Igen Abilites and weaknesses: When it comes to fighting thread this large brown has what it takes to get the job done. His flame is of medium length and burns very intense, allowing him to clear large clumps of thread with little effort. His large size will ensure that he has enough endurance to last through a full fall. However, as strong as he is he does have a weakness. He can't turn very fast and a fat herdbeast has more agility than he does. He is dependent to a certain extent on the blue and greens catching the strands that he can't turn in time to avoid. If a blue or green can't get to the strands fast enough he'll go /between/ to avoid being scored.
