SontalName Pronounced: SAWN - tahl Appearance: Sontal has long brown hair, kept long specifically in an attempt to mimic his distant father. The look works well for him, however, as his most distinguishing feature, the bouncy curliness of his hair, ensures that his hair frames his face in adorable ringlets. His eyes are gray with just the slightest hint of icy blue, with long, fluttering eyelashes. The boy is in the middle of his cohort when it comes to his height, taller than half and shorter than the other. He is neither pudgy nor lanky, sitting comfortably in between. His hands and feet are somewhat smaller than one might expect. Personality: Sontal is an attention seeker. He is always on the lookout for someone to acknowledge him. While he prefers the good sort of attention, praise for having done something well or for being well mannered or well behaved, he is not above seeking more negative attention if he cannot garner enough of the former. He simply wants someone, anyone, to focus on him, no matter the nature of the focus. He can be brash and impulsive, but he is a sweet, sensitive kid at heart. His greatest goal in his life is to do something that will earn the acknowledgement of his father, R'tal, whom he understands is quite busy and cannot spare the time for every one of his many, many children. Sontal will also seek acknowledgment and relationship with anyone else who might be a brother or sister, as his mother's family rarely includes him in anything, and none of his mother's weyrmate's children tend to consider him their brother in anything more than a passing sense. History: Sontal was born to a lower caverns woman after having been conceived during the goldflight that would eventually produce the Star Shines weyrling class. His mother's long-term weyrmate, a Quartermaster, was out of the weyr on business. While she chose to keep him, his mother never wanted him, and he grew up in the creche, rarely seeing even a nameday present from his blood family. When he was six, he was fostered by Yaranna, who became in Sontal's eyes his mother. He had already known her in the creche, and his sometimes problematic penchant for attention seeking led the creche staff to assign him to her for a more stable foster situation. In his mind, she was the one who raised him, who cared for him, and who wanted him. He did not need a family who did not want him. His ambition has always been to become a dragonrider just like his father, who would surely find time for him if he proved himself deserving.
