Appearance: The philosophy of Saiku’s family was, ‘Work hard and you get dinner. Be idle and you starve for the night.” Saiku chose the former, and spends little time taking care of herself. She has tanned skin with patches of sunburn, and falls prey to acne on a regular basis.
Saiku’s hair is very short and only goes up to her neck. It is black in color and excessively messy, as she doesn’t usually have time to brush it.
Her almond-shaped, klah colored eyes are those of a trickster, mischievous and intelligent, full of life. Her nose is delicate and her mouth is always smiling in a way that suggests that she knows something that you don’t, even when she doesn’t.

Personality: Despite the fact that she wishes to impress a green, Saiku is not the least but flirty. In fact, relationships beyond friendships make her feel extremely awkward. Though she may not have that particular green rider trait, if Saiku can play a prank on someone, she will. She’s smart, though. If there’s even a slight chance she’ll be caught, Saiku won’t do it.
Despite this sneaky mannerism, when it comes to saving the skins of her friends, Saiku is a very dependable and serious ally. She is a follower, not a leader- but her knack for picking up strategy plans is once of her greatest strengths.
Of course, everyone has their weaker side. Saiku is easily stressed out, and very shy with new places and new people. She isn’t tremendously sociable, but does become slightly downhearted when alienated. She is also very proud of the things she does well, sometimes to a fault.

History: Saiku is the illegitimate child of two cotholders who lived separately, Lyinia and Tannilsim. When Lyinia requested to move out from her sister’s cothold and into Tassnilsim’s cothold, he refused. Suspicious, Lyinia followed Tannilsim home and found that he already had a family, a wife and three children. Not cruel enough to barge right in there and ruin his relationship with his wife, Lyinia waited until Tannilsim came over the next afternoon. It was then that she broke into a rage and told him to get out and never come back.
When Lyinia discovered that she was pregnant, she was not angry, as many would expect her to be. Instead, she was overjoyed, glad to have something to love and care for. When the baby was born, Lyinia named her Saiku, after her own mother.
But as time went on, Tannilsim found out about the child, who was proof of his unfaithfulness to his wife. Scared for Saiku’s life as well as her own, Lyinia fled her sister’s cothold, eventually running into a man named Qu’son, a canine breeder and former dragon rider who had lost his brown, Damieskoloth, to between in his weyrling years. After the brown's death, Qu'son moved as far away from his old wyer as possible, yet still wanting to be near dragons, he moved closer to Arolos Weyr.
Eventually Qu'son and Lyinia married, and Saiku grew up, never knowing that Qu’son was not really her father. Time passed and Saiku turned thirteen turns old, receiving a canine pup named Chubby for her birthday. Shortly after, Saiku’s younger brother Kagren was born.
One day, a blue on his searching rounds found his way to Qu’son’s cothold, and Saiku was told that it was possible for her to stand for an egg. She was willing to go- but Qu’son wasn’t so sure. What if Saiku impressed, only to lose her lifemate to between or thread? He knew that pain, and it had seared a hole into his heart. But eventually, he allowed her to go, on the condition that she would never place her lifemate in the path of danger.
So Saiku left, never knowing that Qu’son was not her real father.

Pet Name: Chubby

Pet Type: Canine

Appearance: Chubby was bred by Saiku’s father to be strong, fast and menacing. Chubby is none of these things, but is well loved anyway. He is big alright, but he is also very fat and looks as though he wouldn’t have the energy to hurt a fly, even if he did want too. This is going to have to change of course. Chubby bears a strong resemblance to a German Shepherd, except when it comes to colouring.
Chubby is almost completely dark brown, with white sock markings on his legs and tan speckles going down his tail, up his back and stopping at his head. His left ear is tawny coloured, and twitches when he’s annoyed.

Personality: He’s meant to be a loyal and vicious one woman canine. Well, two out of three isn’t too bad. Chubby adores Saiku and ignores everyone else, though he would never lift a paw to hurt them unless Saiku is in trouble.
Chubby isn’t very smart, nor is he very active, but when he wants to play, boy does he want to play. He’ll leapt around barking and forcing you to acknowledge his existence. He is one moody canine.
