Appearance: With his thick shock of mid-length dark brown hair, striking blue eyes, and boyish smile, there’s no denying that Kynedras is an attractive man. And he knows it too. He always takes particular care with his appearance. You will never see him without his hair neatly parted and his clothe perfectly pressed. Nor will it be likely that you’d see him out of doors between the late morning and the early afternoon. He knows that his fair Northern skin burned easily and he is far too vain to risk the harsh Southern sun without having a pressing reason.

Kyne is average in height, standing at around 5’10’’. His frames tends towards the slender rather than muscular - and always will, despite any attempts he might make to rectify the matter. Physically, he is very nearly identical to his twin brother Tyrral.

Personality: Charismatic and flamboyant, Kynedras takes great pleasure in the company of others and revels at being the center of attention. If he had his way, he would be everyone’s best friend. Impulsive and spontaneous, Kyne lives for the moment and rarely considers the future implications of his actions.

While most willing to enjoy the finer things in life to their fullest, the less pleasant aspects he could do without. Responsibilities, commitments, unpleasant emotions, tedious work - he will choose to dodge all of these things with a smile and a joke.

He's a true romantic at heart and is prone to falling in love at the drop of a hat. Unfortunately, this also means that he falls out of love just as quickly. Despite having only the best of intentions, he's always left a trail of broken hearts in his wake.

Though he often acts the part of the fool, Kynedras is actually reasonably intelligent and remarkably perceptive, especially where people are concerned. He has gotten used to sailing through life using only the minimal effort. He is not lazy persay. Unambitious would be a more apt descriptor. He is simply content to be who he is and sees no point in exerting himself to become otherwise.

Despite his many flaws, Kynedras has a good heart. He is kind toward strangers and generous toward friends. He adores and idolizes his twin brother - the only family he has left in the world. For him, there is nothing that Kynedras would not dare.

History: Born: 8.5.12.13

Kynedras was born into a large family of cotholders living in the shadow of Fort Weyr. He was one of a pair of identical twins, younger than his elder brother Tyrral by five minutes. His family did not have much, but he was well loved and happy.

When he was merely six turns old, tragedy struck. A freak landslide wiped out his home, killing his parents and most of his older siblings, leaving only himself, his brother Tyrral, and his sister Tashiana, two years his junior, alive.

Ever since that terrible day, he and his sibling were shunted between a string of distant relatives and foster families, never staying more than a year with any particular one. Though they never received anything but kindness from these strangers, they were never made to feel entirely welcome either. Kynedras never fully recovered that sense of belonging, of family that he’d experienced so briefly. The brightest point in his life remained his two siblings, and luckily they were never separated. He grew to become very close with the only true family he had remaining, Tyrral in particular.

When he was 12 turns old, his brother convinced him to apprentice himself to the Harper Hall. It was, as his brother argued, the only way for a young man with no prospect of inheritance to advance himself. Kynedras cared little for advancement, but he liked music well enough and it was a small enough sacrifice to make Tyrral happy.

The next couple of years passed uneventfully, until Tashiana, at the tender age of 15, found herself pregnant and abandoned by one of the dragonriders from Fort. In despair, she took her own life. Even as Tyrral and Kynedras reeled from this personal tragedy, word came to them that Fort fell to the resistance.

To escape the turmoil of the aftermath, as well as get away from a place that now held too many painful memories, the brothers decided to transfer to the Southern Continent.

Not long after Kynedras arrived at the Arolos Harper Haven, he caught the eye of an Arolos searchdragon and was invited to stay at the Weyr as a candidate.

After an exciting year at the Weyr, Kynedras stood for his first hatching and was met on the sands by a clever bronze dragon who called himself Padakth.

A year into his weyrling training, Kyn'dras was sent, along side fellow weyrling S'ver and greenrider Malvie, to search for new firestone deposits to address the Weyr's firestone shortfall. Instead of firestone, they instead came across the hatching of a clutch of wild seaflit, a species never seen before! Kyn'dras impresses three of the aquatic creatures, gold Sola, green Tido, and green Remi.

Information about Kyn'dras's pets

Pet Name: Solarian (Sola)

Pet Type: Gold Firelizard

Appearance: (Sola, Tido, and Remi are Christmas 2014 gifts from the BoD)

Sola and her sisters are not actually firelizards. They’re sea-flits, a previously unknown species and there’s a marked difference in their physical appearances. They don’t have proper limbs, only small and stunted vestigial arms and legs. Their wings are too small for actual flight, but are exactly the right size for pushing them through water and gliding for a short distance across the surface. They possess gills, and can stay underwater almost indefinitely. They can survive out of water, but after a few hours they’ll start suffering from drying skin.

Sola herself is - or will be once she attains full growth - comparable in size to the wild gold firelizards that roost along the coast of the Southern continent, but longer and slenderer than the majority of her winged brethren. Whether that’s unique to Sola herself or a trait of her specie is unknown. Her hide is vaguely evocative of sunlight striking water. The base is a light, creamy gold, with streaks of richer gold running down her back.

Personality: Sea-flits are not as bright as their airborne cousins and it shows. In comparison to a firelizard gold, Sola would be considered flighty and forgetful. She concerns herself more with amusements of the moment than long term plotting and is easily distracted. Still, she is a sweet-natured and loyal creature, protective of her sisters and just as eager to rally them to the defense if her pet is threatened.

Her gold-ness does show through in one aspect. Sola has a possessive streak wide enough to fly a dragon through. As far as she’s concerned, she’s the woman in Kyn’dras’s life and, barring her green sisters, she’s not inclined to share. Any new female of any specie will be met with suspicion and icy hostility, though funnily enough she appears to have no objections to any of Kyn’dras’s male friends.

Second Pet Name: Remilie (Remi)

Pet Type: Green Firelizard

Appearance: Sizes are difficult to judge when it comes to sea-flits, as there is little basis for comparison. Remi is smaller than her golden sister Sola and a bit larger than her green sister Tido, so at best guess she’s on the larger side of average. Her hide is a lovely shade of dark hunter green, uniform throughout except for a smattering of freckles of a lighter green across her right shoulder.

Personality: You would think that it’d be difficult to tell Remi and her green sister Tido apart, as they share very similar hide colors, but it’s actually very easy. Remi will be the one sunning herself on a warm rock, while Tido will be the one zooming around, poking her snout into anything and everything. It’s not as much laziness as it is an inborn sense of serenity. Remi simply prefers to let the world come to her rather than go out to the world.

That said, she doesn’t put up much of a resistance when her sisters call her to join in their games.

Third Pet Name: Tidoska (Tido)

Pet Type: Green Firelizard

Appearance: Tido is the smallest of the three sea-flit sisters, beating out her green sister Remi by a finger span or two, depending on the finger. Her hide is a deep hunter green, perhaps just a shade lighter than that of sister, though the difference is only noticeable in a side to side comparison. The lower half of her stunted forepaws are colored a lighter shade of grassy green, giving the impression that she’d somehow dipped them into a bucket of green paint.

Personality: Of the pair of green sea flit sisters, Tido is the active one - the wanderer and the explorer. You’ll rarely see this little creature sit still. After all, the world is full of interesting wonders, and there’s only so much time to see them all! Tido is easily the most curious of her sisters, attracted by the new and the exciting, and the most like to interact with an object of interest by poking it with her snout. This is a trait that could get her into some trouble, if Kyn’dras did not keep an eye on her.

If Kyn’dras permits his seaflits the freedom of the open seas, Tido will also be the one most like to vanish for a brief period of time, only to show up hours, even days later.

Dragon Name: Padakth

Colour: Bronze

Age: 7

Wing (Weyrling Group): Firedance

Appearance: Padakth is a bronze who always looks like he could use just a bit more oiling. Unlike many of his bronze brothers, he doesn’t care much for his own appearance. His hide has a deep bronze sheen that just seems to attract dust and dirt. Always on the thin side, with an impressive wingspan that is nonetheless kept sedately folded when not needed, he is an exceptional, clever flier that doesn’t believe you need flash to impress.

Personality: Despite his humble appearance, Padakth is one of the most intelligent bronzes to hatch in Arolos. His pride is his mind which is quick to pick up on lessons while making any exercise, both mental and physical, look effortless. Padakth can be smug about his knowledge, and he often uses his gift for trouble rather than good. He loves plotting pranks and finding out everyone’s secrets. He is also reckless, believing his intelligence makes him invincible when often caution and deliberation would be smarter courses.

Padakth is also incredibly loyal. Those dragons he becomes close to will have a friend and a protector for life. Even though Padakth gets into enough trouble for two bronzes, he will gladly take the blame for a friend. And despite craving to know secrets, he is not one to share them. Finally, Padakth loves canines. It could be the combination of smarts and playfulness, but from an early age he will dote on canines.

Weyr of Origin: Arolos

Abilites and weaknesses: Padakth is an exceptionally clever dragon. There's very little that he can't accomplish if he puts his mind to it. Unfortunately, he can sometimes try to be overly clever and land himself and/or his rider in hot waters.

He's a talented flier and would be an asset to any wing...if not for his tendency to get bored. Because when Padakth is bored, he tends to seek out other ways of amusing himself. And when he seeks out other ways of amusing himself...let's just say that he has no qualms about overlooking rules or getting his laughs at the expense of another.
