Appearance: Jay would be surpised to hear that most people would regard him as good looking. He has sandy blonde hair that despite his attempts to keep it neat have a definite tendency to beg to be ruffled. He has now grown to be just shy of six foot tall and has the well developed physique of a dragonrider, as well as rather vivid green eyes and a disarming grin.

Personality: Jay would be known as a bit of a bleeding heart. He has always had a sense of justice that interferes terribly with his sense of self-presevation. And talk about honourable - well, if there is someone aspiring to the ideal of what a bronzerider is thought to be then it is Jay, although it's not conscious. There is one thing that is a particular quirk of his - he hates lying with a passion. He refuses to do it, and so has evolved a fair few strategies to work around this. He has always been responsible and mature beyond his years and possessed of a blind courage that has led him to be a very good wingsecond at such an early age.

Jay had Harper training, and he is good at diplomacy, persuasion and keeps up with the more legal sides of things. This has stood him in good stead at various instances of peril and he makes a point of keeping up with that side of things. Also rather surprisingly, he might not have had the finest voice, but he has some talent at composing songs. He has won the Harper Open in the past - he gave the prize of a gold flit egg to Wygelle, which hatched to become Pequena.

History: Jayshar was an apprentice at the Harper Hall when he was searched, specialising in instrument making as his voice was mediocre at best. He had lived at the Hall all his life having no idea who his parents were - having been left there whilst still a baby. As a result he had rather a pleasant childhood, if developing a tendency to be self sufficient. He was Searched to Arolos when he was 15 for the first Clutch and had a rather eventful time in his Candidacy as he seemed to be the one out of all of them who refused to back down to the older bully, Kuligh. He stood absolutely no chance whatsoever, but sense of justice refused to let him standby when Kuligh was in full flow. Things culminated in an incident when Kulight tried to rape Tiella, another candidate and Jay intervened. Kuligh had been drinking and was murderous to say the least. Overpowering Jay, he took him to the Rim and tried to make it look like the boy had accidentally fallen to his death. Jayshar yelled for help, and it was fortunate that Talith was awake to intercept the deadly plunge, though Jay was badly injured. His life was saved, just by Weyrhealer Kirren (now K'ren) and he began a long arduous recovery.
At the point he was nearly recovered, the hurracaine struck and as he was hobbling to safety he realised everyone had forgotten about Kuligh as the waters rose and they were trying to get the Clutch to higher ground. Kuligh was in danger of drowning - and once again Jay's sense of honour over rode everything else and he let Kuligh out. The bully was totally mystified by this action, and then even more mystified when he got trapped and Jay refused to leave him to die.
As a result of a rather fraught incident packed event, Jay and Kuligh came to an understanding, and Jayshar found out a little of what made Kuligh the way he was, and made a promise to be his friend. And Jay took promises very seriously.

Despite this, it was decided, in the terrible time after the hurracaine that Kuligh would be exiled back to his home in disgrace. With his new understanding, Jay knew this was a death sentance. He managed to persuade I'rastil to drop him at Kulighs hold just before Fall on the pretext of saying goodbye and discovered Kuligh had already made a run for it. He went after him, even though Thread was due and took a scoring as he located and saved Kuligh. After the fall, when they were found by I'rastil and R'tal, he put R'tal in a very awkward position by demanding that the Weyrleader follow one of the old Laws and uphold Kuligh's rights as a dragonrider should. This action lead to a conflict with Religh, and the Holders removal and exile. They returned to the weyr just in time for the Hatching, and though a little battered, Jay Impressed Bronze Heyoshath, the first dragon to Hatch in Arolos.

After this, Jay developed into a fine rider and fell deeply in love with Halle, who Impressed Arolos' first gold. Their main problem was keeping their hands off of each other during the forbidden time which was the full time of weyrlinghood. As it happened, they couldn't! and it became a little obvious when towards the end, Halle fell pregnant. They were in trouble over that, but eventually it got sorted out, and Halle gave birth prematurely to twins, Halshar and Janno. Unfortunately, they were very fragile and there was an earthquake in the weyr at the same time. Halshar died when only a few days old, but Janno survived and Jay finally had the family he was craving.
Unfortunately, a greenrider called Alika, set her sights on Jay and was determined to tear them apart. She finally succeeded in catching the young bronzerider in a flight, and became pregnant. As Halle had taken a scoring that essentially said that she probably wouldn't be able to have more children, she was particularly susceptible to Alika's gloating.
However, Alika died in childbirth and her daughter, Alouri was adopted by Jay and Halle.
They were happy together for sometime until the Interim Weyrleader T'sutar, peremptorily transfered Halle to another weyr - Igen, to widen the gene pool. Jay tried to keep up a long distance relationship but discovered that Halle had been looking else where for companionship while requiring him to be faithful. In the end, K'ligh, furious at the way his friend was being treated went to Igen and forcibly brought back his children, who Halle had taken with her without asking.
It was a long time before Jay even attempted to look around. He was reclusive and depressed for a long time, and he and Heyoshath threw themselves into work, and made themselves a fine example of a Wingsecond pair for Firedance.
After a great deal of encouragement from his friend K'ligh (more like threats and emotional blackmail!) he finally started to go out a little more. Go to the Dragonriders Hall and talk with people.
Eventually, the unexpected happened - he fell hard and fast for the relatively new Goldrider Wygelle. What had started as a casual friendship blossomed relatively swiftly and Jay started to regain a little of his humour and life through her influence.
Jay is still Wygelle's weyrmate and surprised himself, and no doubt other people who thought him a bit conservative by accepting other weyrmates as his own. He became very close to H'po, who was one of their mutual weyrmates, but was hurt when H'po left over the argument involving the father of Wygelle's child, Kirrel (Which turned out to be neither himself or H'po).
That was a particualrly painful experience and Jay reacted badly at the time to the revelation, but came round swiftly, returning and apologising to Wygelle for his behaviour. H'po however, would not forgive Wygelle for her infidelity no matter how often that Jay explained that infidelity was ridiculous in a weyr.
In the end, they had a fight - or in reality, Jay stood there when H'po lost his temper and hit him and it was then that Jay backed off.

And some time afterwards, with their issues still unreconciled, H'po was lost between after an encounter with renegades.

Jay went on to accept Kirrel as one of his children, just as much as Alouri and Janno, and since then, Wygelle became pregnant again and this time it was potentially either his or L'tuls baby. As it turned out, she had twins, and Jay is privately convinced that they are L'tuls as they have the dark hair he conspicuously does not have!
Recently, Heyoshath was the last to fly Jenith, the Senior Queen and he found himself Weyrleader for the first time in the middle of a very sticky political situation with Fort, where they had to reinterview all transfer riders toweed out possible "murderer's." He and Wygelle had to weather the trial of Candidate Master Stryka when Fort challenged his verdict of Self-defense for her part in the death of a Fort bronzer. The MasterHarper eventually upheld his verdict.

He has also had to order the castration of a dragonrider for repeated rape, and then deal with an angry mob making his way to bang on his office door and demand he keep his hands off their balls!

He is currently relieved to not be Weyrleader any more and is happy with being Weyrsecond and has recently been given the Wingleader position of a new wing - The StormHearts, named after his Weyrling group.

Dragon Name: Heyoshath

Colour: Bronze

Age: 16

Wing (Weyrling Group): CloudDancers

Appearance: Heyoshath is a large bronze, very large. When he reaches full muscle development there is the possibility that he will be the largest bronze in the weyr. He is a deep clear colour with a high shine to his hide.

Personality: Heyoshath share the need for everyone to get along that his rider posesses, and the tendency to decided this is right and act on it swiftly. He has a powerful presence and is genuinely interested in those dragons he considers to be his "friends". He is perhaps a little serious and need to lighten up a bit, and wasn't the most talkative of dragons, but when a flight goes up he reveals himself to have a poetical side.

Abilites and weaknesses: His main ability is stamina. Lots of it. He can go on, and on. His sense of responsibility allows him to make a good wingseconds dragon and he is very focused on what he has to do.
