GlynisName Pronounced: Glin-is Appearance: A tall teenager, Glynis is 5' 9", and is a little light for her height (140 lbs). She is of a slightly smaller-than-medium build, and has probably reached the end of her growth, as she really hasn't grown at all for several Turns. She was born with ivory skin, but after all those Turns living under the Southern sun, especially after she became an Apprentice, her skin is now a dark tea color, creamy brownish, though her arms, face and legs tend to be a bit darker. Glyn's eyes are a greyish-green, with a ring of golden-brown around the edge, making her eyes hazel, and seeming to shift color slightly with changes in the weather (more blue on a darker day, etc.) - really it's only a play of the light. She has a small, pert mouth, her lips are a soft rose color that fade to near-white when she is afraid. Her ears are long and unpierced - she has yet to venture into wearing much jewelry, since it's dangerous to wear much, if any, dangly bits in the water. Her hair has grown to shoulder-length, but usually she crops it rather short. It is auburn; if she lived in the North, it would probably be a rich brown with shades of red that would only come out in sunlight, but with all the exposure of the hot Southern sun, the bleaching leeches away the brown and lets the red in her hair shine through, making her look more of a redhead than a brunette. It curls naturally, driving her rather crazy, even though she loves it. She can only brush it when it is wet, since it ringlets quickly after water is squeezed out and it begins to dry; if she tries to brush it after it was dry, it becomes a big poof of hair. Normally Glyn wears comfortable clothing, shifts and tunics with cutoff sleeves, shorts and skirts. She likes wearing light colors, to keep her cool, but her favorite colors to wear would be blue, purple, and grey. Unless required to do otherwise, she always wears sandals. Personality: Glynis has always been a rather happy, pleasant individual. She likes to try and be happy whenever possible, always making the best she can of every situation. Because of this, she is a rather cheery person, and works extremely well under pressure and in panic situations. Also, she has a lot of patience, which she hardly ever runs out of, although she can have quite a temper when she loses it. She is always one to want to have something to do - she dislikes sitting around when she could be working or busy at something, and sometimes has problems relaxing. As for getting along with people, she is rather methodic about it, strange as that may sound. Glyn tends to be a watcher at first, meaning that she sometimes sits back, listening and watching the new people she has met, assessing them in a sense. Once she begins to talk to people, she can converse with them in a more comfortable manner, in her mind, because she can react to them faster, know what they like, don't like, and what they are like. And she tries to be as pleasant as possible, which is not always good, because she would rather avoid than face unpleasant problems. But mostly, she tends to be rather popular, since she gets along with people easily. She prefers to spend time with people in their teens or older, but she has never had very much talent or like for young children, especially babies, making her terrible for helping with child care or as a teacher for younger students - it is hard for her to relate to people who don't make that much rational sense. History: Glynis was born at Glasswall Cothold near Arolos Hold, two weeks before she was due. Her mother, Dannan, is a cook, and her father, Kryfin, was a master armscrafter at Arolos Hold; they had been visiting Dannan's sister, Cotlady Pola and her husband Cotholder Martarin, when Dannan began to give birth, and before the night was out, Glynis was welcomed to Pern. She was large, even for being two weeks early, and has been large for her age ever since, often towering over her classmates and setting her uneasily apart. After several weeks of recovery, Dannan and Glynis were allowed to make the trip home, where mom took several months off of her work in the kitchens to care for Glyn by herself. Information about Glynis's dragon Dragon Name: Bagheth Colour: Blue Age: 1 Wing (Weyrling Group): None Appearance: A deep ocean blue adorns this dragon covering it like a shroud made from a midnight sky. He stands like a dark shadow, an inky hue to his hide with markings that show up in certain lights like the pattern of watered silk. A ripple of muscles rolls across his body, indicative of the physical strength present in this blue dragon; perhaps more so than most blues. To the touch the tough hide is softer than down, as though perfectly oiled. Indeed this dragon will need less oil than most to keep his hide perfect and is likely to have few rough patches or skin problems. Personality: Bagheth the blue dragon is likely to be known by everyone but there are few that would cross his path. He is cunning as feline, as bold as a runner beast and as reckless as a wounded wherry. He will stand up for his friends and woes betide those that try to oppose him. In everything that he does it is obvious that he means business. He takes his weyrling lessons seriously and will expect his rider to be diligent in his studies as well. Weyr of Origin: Arolos Abilites and weaknesses: Kinder than a kitten when in a good mood, Bagheth is slow to anger. Thankfully, he uses words and emotions when he does become upset, although those he can use with vicious cunning, turning a verb into a thinly veiled dagger. Unfortunately, his good opinion, once lost, is not easily earned again. He is kind and treats all others with respect, as long as they show him they have earned it.
