D'gadCharacter type: Dragonrider Appearance: Tall, dark, & handsome, as well as strong… these are the typical qualities of a bronzerider. Unfortunately for D’gad, however… none of these things describe him in the slightest. At only 5’5”, he barely qualifies for “average height” status, and then only if you’re generous; his red hair, while tending towards the darker shades of that color, doesn’t even begin to fit “dark”, nor do his light brown eyes; and with the more-than-generous smattering of freckles scattered across his face (not to mention the rest of his body) even darker than the tan which he, rarest of rarities amongst redheads, has been blessed with… well, he can really be considered more “cute” than “handsome”. And as for strong… he’s definitely fit, there’s no doubt about that, but his swimmer’s physique, combined with his size, doesn’t really scream out “Hey! I can lift 2 sacks of firestone over my head if I want!” Personality: The biggest, and most obvious, aspect of D’gad’s personality is his affinity for water – if it involves getting wet, he’s all for it, and his father often jokes that his mother had an affair with a shipfish, which he’s always swum like. As a ‘brat, Doogie spent as much time as possible in the water, a habit which continues to this day. Despite all this time in the legendary Arolos Lake, he seems to have developed an immunity to its “powers”, having neither nearly drowned nor been overly… promiscuous. In fact, the rider is almost painfully shy around girls, especially those he’s attracted to. One possible side effect of the water, though, was his crushability when younger – he’d develop an instant crush on somebody, for no real reason, and spend time moping about her… right up until the next instant crush came along, which averaged about a sevenday or so. Fortunately, he's more or less grown out of that, although he still gets flustered when flirted with. History: D’gad, or Doogie as he's known amongst those who've known him a long time - although he's long since stopped introducing himself as such - is the oldest son of 2 drudges, growing up at Telgar and, after it opened and his parents moved there, Arolos Weyrs. The most exciting thing to happen to him, at least until he Impressed bronze Dolwyth, was the realization that one could swim in the Arolos Lake YEAR ROUND! He really *did* have a pretty boring life… Doogie’s favorite story was his insistence that the senior gold really DID speak to him and promised him the biggest bronze… honest! And the best thing was, nobody was ready to dispute that… none of his friends would dare ask a dragon if that was true, and besides… with their memories, she likely wouldn’t have remembered it even if it HAD happened. And as it turns out, Doogie actually did grow up to Impress a bronze… though at another Weyr entirely, and not really the biggest either, but that’s beside the point. Information about D'gad's dragon Dragon Name: Dolwyth Colour: Bronze Age: 20 Turns Wing (Weyrling Group): Wind-dance Fury Appearance: A largish bronze, though not really enough to even put him in consideration for "largest around". Dolwyth's hide is generally of a darker bronze, shading to black at the tips of his ridges. His sails, however, have a bit of a reddish tinge to them, almost purple in the correct light. Dolwyth is generally not happy unless he shines; D'gad is thus often enjoined to oil his hide far more than is strictly needed. Personality: Dolwyth could really be described as "stodgy" - or at least, "stuffy". He has an over-inflated sense of dignity that really can't bear even the mildest of teasing, although he tends to simply ignore it with a bit of a stoic 'hmph!' of a sniff when it happens. Or, really, when anything that messes with his sense of propriety happens. One must need bear one's burden silently, after all. But Faranth help you if you ever call him anything other than Dolwyth. Weyr of Origin: Arolos Abilites and weaknesses: Like most bronzes, Dolwyth possesses great stamina, at the cost of maneuverability. He has a special talent for spotting and using thermals to his advantage.
