AtheaCharacter type: Dragonrider Appearance: Athea is 5'6", not overly tall for a girl, lean but not gawky, and fit from all the runner riding and mountain treks she and her twin Janna were sent on to search for herbs, not to mention dealing with the heavy bolts of fabric produced by the weavery. Her mid-long hair is a dark brown, her eyes a light green. Her fair skin burns in the sun, she loathes sunbathing and prefers cool climates. A pretty girl, her finely arched eyebrows and delicate features are a contrast to her strong demeanor, and more a reflection of an inner delicacy caused by the loss of her mother. Her twin Janna is fraternal, and though they're similar in appearance, Janna's black hair and blue eyes were always Athea's envy. Personality: One of a twin, Athea's identity and certainly world view is shaded by the sense of "pair". This of course makes her a strong candidate for impression. She's always been a bidable child, if a little independant and headstrong. Shrewd and bright, she's learned to keep her mouth shut when necessary and not engage in too much idle gossip. She's more mature than you'd expect of her turns, and feels a bit isolated from others her age. Her twin Janna has always been her greatest support and her confidant, but they were Searched to different weyrs, and Athea is a bit shocked to experience Weyr life, or any life, singularly. She's a whirl of humanitiy, as Wordsworth would say, she "contains multitudes" -- passionate but indecisive, patient but at times flighty, independant but lonely, generous yet competitive. History: Athea is from Far Cry, a remote hold aptly named. Her Father Talsit is a journeyman in the Weaver craft, and after the death of their mother Hana, the twins Athea and Janna grew up around countless bolts of fabric, carding wool, and aiding the Hold's weavery. Both twins feel the lack of their mother acutely, the wasting disease that took her life 5 years ago had incapacitated her for nearly their whole lives. Far Cry's healer Blatha took a motherly roll to Athea and Janna, not only because she was so constantly in their hold to tend the ailing Hana, but also because the twins were bright and more than willing to learn and help with her craft. Talsit, while kind, was a very quiet sort, not at all prepared to deal with the the loss of his wife as a partner and as a parent. The girls, when not helping around the weavery were riding runners with the hold boys, sitting lessons with the hold Harper, or out gathering herbs and medicinal plants to help Far Cry's healer with her concoctions. They both were apprenticing to the Healer craft, and likely would have gone to Fort to learn under the MasterHealer if they'd not been searched to different Weyrs 2 months apart. Information about Athea's pets Pet Name: Kir Pet Type: Brown Fire Lizard Appearance: Kir is a smallish, delicate brown lizard, the colour of coffee with a bit of cream (if they had coffee on Pern...) and a sturdy but delicate build. He almost looks "feminine", though he would squack indignantly if he heard this voiced. Personality: Kir is inquisitive but mellow, prefering a shoulder perch to listen and watch the goings on. He's helpful but needs a lot of motivating to get him to carry a message or fetch small objects, he'd rather sun himself. One task he's always willing to undertake is carrying messages to Athea's twin Janna at Telgar Weyr-- Janna's brown lizard Brak also makes brief appearances at Arolos when he's bringing messages to Athea. Information about Athea's dragon Dragon Name: Nuyestath Colour: Green Age: 18 months Wing (Weyrling Group): Direflame Appearance: A small dragon, Nuyestath is a bright grassy green shading towards dusty green over her tail and down her haunches. Tending towards plumpness if not restrained, Nuyestath is far from dainty, more of an "easy keeper" but sturdy with an average physique, and pleasant to look at...So long as she's not perched next to one of the more feminine fine boned greens... Personality: The lifelong child, it is very much like Nuyestath was hatched yesterday in some regards. It takes Athea repeating things various times before the green will catch onto meanings. She doesn't have an easy time learning details about human life, but dragon things come naturally to her. She neither has the wisdom or time to be bright in thoughts or actions. What Nuyestath does is typically without any reason, for she never thought of one beforehand. The green mainly follows her instincts, something that makes her prone to making mistakes in judgment. Weyr of Origin: Arolos Abilites and weaknesses: Courageous because she lacks forethought, Nuyestath is never one to shirk a dangerous task, but Athea has to temper her enthusiasm with her own brains, for the Green will end them up in a heap of trouble if left to her own devices.
