Gold Spark NewsWelcome to Gold Spark! This is the Weyrwoman\'s Wing, a very important wing to be sure and it can be intimidating for riders coming into this wing having to work with the Weyrwoman herself as well as all the actively flying goldriders in the Weyr. This wing always flies on the lowest tier of the flight patterns keeping low to catch thread that gets through the upper tiers. The GoldSparks are made up of the following types of riders: 1. Goldriders 2. Older riders whose reflexes just aren\'t what they used to be. 3. Riders who are healed enough to fly but not healed quite enough to go on to their normal wing. 4. Previously injured riders who can fly but will never fly in an upper wing again. 5. Pregnant riders in their 4th, 5th, and 6th months of pregnancy. Because this wing is constantly receiving new riders as well as riders who come and go all the time, it takes a lot of work to keep it in order and everyone flying in sync. This isn\'t your average wing by far and as such things are done differently. Those who are there permanently have to be able to get along with the topsy-turvy confusion in this wing or they are banned from riding in Threadfall altogether and are put to use as sweepriders and watchriders as well as become hunters and such for the Weyr. The permanent riders need to be able to reach out to those transferring in however temporary. The Weyrwoman takes great pains to make sure things will go smoothly in her wing. Meetings with her are encouraged and she takes all situations no matter how trivial or extreme very seriously. While Weyrwoman Wygelle is known for her compassion and easy going manner, letting all know they can come to her, she is also very strict and exacting in her work. The goldriders under her, Kassia and Freynia, currently take turns leading the wings, each of them ready to step in if and when needed. During a Threadfall at anytime a gold dragon may be needed to rescue an injured dragon and as such the wing needs to continue to function fully as this takes place. Even a few of the permanent non-goldriders are instructed on leading the GoldSparks for such times when all the golds are being utilized in rescue missions or are otherwise absent during Threadfall. Goldriders are the only riders in the wing who take part in the various aspects of running the Weyr, as is their duty. Others in the wing are strictly wingriders and do their duty as such. Wygelle takes discipline in the wing very seriously. She expects the best from those flying with her and will not tolerate anything but the best effort from all. Some who join her wing, mostly those who are temporarily there, believe they can slack off and take it easy but they\'re in for a rude awakening. Wygelle will not be accused of letting riders go soft in her wing only to go back to their regular wing and give her wing a bad reputation. If anything she\'s harder on the riders in some respects. She makes sure she has all the healer reports and is updated daily by them on the various injured/sick riders in her wing. She makes sure they go for their regular check ups, their therapy, and never over do it and is very adamant about making sure all the riders are examined weekly, sometimes daily if they appear to be unwell in any way. If a rider tries to fool her and over does it and she finds out, they are in for some serious punishment once they are well enough to undertake it. Flying in the GoldSparks is an honor, flying with the WeyrWoman leading the wing is something special and not all riders will have that opportunity, though most will find themselves there at least once during their lifetime, if not more. If you fly well and uphold the integrity and honor of the Weyr when you\'re in the GoldSparks things will go well for you and for the entire wing.
